2014 - Bingara Living Classrooms (Aquaculture)
WINNER of Honoriarium
The Bingara Living Classrooms is an initiative of the Bingara Council and local community groups, together with John Mongard from Design Bank. The site was divided into various farming related activities, Aquaculture being one of them.
The brief from the Council was to provide a design that would be self-sustaining and offer an educational element to complement their Living Classroom, on a very limited budget.
This design concept was "A Balanced Life", and the vision was to achieve balance between flora, fauna and human involvement. The design features an Aquaculture lagoon, an Aquaponics Glasshouse with education facilities, a Boardwalk/Pathway surrounding the lagoon, a Lotus Garden, productive Chinampas, Bird Sanctuary, mini forest and an art installation.
