Northshore Hamilton...Brisbane

Northshore Hamilton is located within 6km north of Brisbane CBD. The river frontage exceeds 3km and overlooks the CBD and the Gateway Bridge. This prime land has been vacated due to the long standing port industries relocation to Kangaroo Is.

This project sought to address and challenge the exisitng precincts set by the State Government and to produce a new precinct plan, a new masterplan and ultimately a waterfront parkland. With the holiday cruise-liners still docking at Hamilton, this park is to introduce the traveller to the characteristics of Queensland by showcasing Queensland's native vegetation, materials and lifestyle.

A proposed exhibition building is to have a permenant display of tourist destinatons within Queensland to entice travellers to explore our geat state on a return visit.

The concept of "Utopia through Ecological Urbanism" in this design it is defined as finding a ‘happy’ place for humans and nature alike, that their relationship may be enriched and both will benefit.

Key objectives from the Theoretical Framework (Ecological Urbanism):

1. To be a place for everyone

2. To reduce the impact of climate

3. To actively contribute to the economic growth of Hamilton, Brisbane.

This design provides open spaces that activate  the Brisbane River edge for public use and provides a coveted vista for residents. Protection and beneficial enhancements for existing ecosystems have been applied. The sites industrial History has been conserved and the sub-tropical climate has been celebrated, providing breathing areas within close proximity to busy Brisbane CBD.
